About Scent Heaven Fragrances Group
Preserving 400 Years of Perfumery Excellence - From Kannauj's Royal Courts to Your Home
Our Heritage & Legacy
Scent Heaven Fragrances Group stands as a beacon of authenticity in India's most prestigious fragrance heritage. Rooted in the historic city of Kannauj—the Perfume Capital of India—we carry forward centuries of perfumery excellence that dates back over 400 years.
Our journey began in the early 1950s, when our founding family recognized the urgent need to preserve Kannauj's traditional distillation methods during a critical period of industrial transition. While many distilleries were closing, we committed ourselves to maintaining the sacred art of steam distillation using the authentic Deg-Bhapka method—a technique predating Europe's famous Grasse perfume houses by over two centuries.
Today, Scent Heaven Fragrances Group operates with the same dedication to purity and tradition that earned Kannauj its GI (Geographical Indication) Tag in 2014. Our facility in Kannauj maintains the entire production cycle—from botanical sourcing to traditional distillation to mature aging—ensuring 100% authenticity and purity in every product.
Why Kannauj?
Kannauj is not just a city—it's the birthplace of India's fragrance civilization. Located on the banks of the Ganges with rich alluvial soil, Kannauj produced premium botanicals for centuries.
Historical Significance: Dating back to the 7th century under Emperor Harshvardhan, Kannauj became the epicenter of attar production. During the Mughal era, emperors specifically requested Kannauj oils, elevating the city's status to "Royal Perfume Capital."
The Deg-Bhapka Legacy: Our distillery uses the same centuries-old copper stills (degs) and receivers (bhapkas) that master perfumers have relied on for generations. Steam distillation at low temperatures preserves the complete aromatic complexity—something modern industrial methods cannot achieve.

Our Traditional Production Process
Every Scent Heaven Fragrances Group product follows the authentic Deg-Bhapka steam distillation method—unchanged for centuries:
1. Sourcing
Fresh botanical materials from traditional sources—Damask roses from local gardens, roots from Himalayan regions, spices from South India's best producers.
2. Preparation
Materials are cleaned and prepared. 45kg batches are loaded into copper degs (stills) with pure water. Lid sealed with clay-cotton mixture for perfect seal.
3. Distillation
Wood/cow-dung fire heats the deg slowly for 8+ hours. Aromatic vapors rise through bamboo pipes into copper bhapka receivers containing sandalwood oil base.
4. Cooling & Separation
Receiver pots kept cool in gachchi (water tanks). Oil and water separate naturally. Hydrosol is recycled into the deg for next batch.
5. Maturation
Attar is poured into leather bottles (kuppi) for moisture absorption. Aging period: minimum 1 year, often 5-10 years for complex fragrance development.
6. Quality Check
Every batch tested for fragrance integrity, purity, and potency. Only products meeting our rigorous standards reach customers.
